The UnquietThe Unquiet
Her Greatest Treasure, A Novella

An attempted kidnapping, an unquiet soul, and an unexpected gift conspire to throw shopkeeper Lydia Chernov's well-ordered life into turmoil. Though Lord Chase arrives in time to stop the kidnapper, he adds to the upheaval by igniting Lydia’s emotions and making her question all she holds dear. But while passion can cause havoc, when Lydia and Chase come together to solve the mystery of her most treasured possession, they discover that a magic coin – even in the wrong hands – can transform determination to desire, and bedlam to bliss.
The first time I told Lydia's story it was as a proposal for a book-length novel, the last in the Pennistan series I write for Bantam. Though my editor and I decided it wasn't quite the right plot for Lord Jess Pennistan, that left Lydia – a character I'd come to care about – without resolution, without love. So, with Bantam's permission, I share the story of Lord Chase and Lydia Chernov in "Her Greatest Treasure." It is adapted from the teaser chapter at the end of Courtesan's Kiss.

Mirror, MirrorMirror, Mirror
A Novella

As you can see from the cover we are in the land of fairy tales for this anthology. I chose Goldilocks and the Three Bears and, of course, the magic coin is part of the story Martha Stepp is a housemaid who likes to test beds to find the most comfortable. Jack Tresbere is a retired military man. Life at Craig’s Castle brings them together but their hopes for a future are compromised when a wish on a magic coin leads to a misunderstanding that costs Martha her job and crushes Jack’s hope for the future.

Down The Rabbit HoleDown the Rabbit Hole
Alice and The Earl in Wonderland, A Novella

Earl Weston believes his relationship with Alice Kemp is over, until they're both propelled forward in time, from their comfortable London of 1806 to the bustling confusion of London, 2006.
Though they’re under the protection of the mysterious Mr. Arbuthnot, who arranged the time travel, they are astonished by what they find in the modern world. The earl’s townhouse is familiar, but things like the magical box called a computer and the fantastical mirror called a telly are so shocking they know that something supernatural has occurred.
It’s when they venture outside, however, that Weston and Alice learn the most about the future — and themselves. From automobiles to lorries, Starbucks to the Underground, the 21st century shows them not only what direction their earlier world is heading, but it shows each of them the course their own lives should take.
Will it reinforce the obstacles that separated them in their own era? Or might 2006 be what brings them back together for all time?
